Survival Kit for Choosing the Right Country.

How many of us, at least once in our lives, have thought:
"What if I just moved abroad?"
Some people snap back to reality immediately, take a nice shower, and return to their routine. It was just a passing thought of escape.
For others, however, that thought sticks. It’s impossible to shake off.
Between a thousand doubts and fears, the first question is:
“Where should I go if I actually leave?”
The world is vast, and finding the right place for you can feel like an endless challenge. With so many choices, you might feel overwhelmed and lose a bit of your initial excitement.
How do you make a choice when every corner of the world opens up new possibilities and scenarios?
Here's a little survival kit to help you out.
3 Mistakes to Avoid and 2 Tips to Get Started!
There’s No “Perfect” CountryEvery place has its pros and cons, shaped by its history, politics, culture, mentality, laws, and social norms. Think about which of these aspects align most with what you want, and what kinds of compromises you’re willing to make.
Cultural Shock Is RealThe differences in routines, rhythms, and mindsets aren’t something to ignore. Finding yourself in a place where everything operates differently can be exciting, but also a bit unsettling. You might even find yourself thinking, “This isn’t exactly how I pictured it…”
Don’t Decide Based Only on Vacation ExperiencesVisiting a country as a tourist is very different from living there. Daily routines, like work, social life, and bureaucracy, can drastically change that “perfect” image of a place. Looking at a place with the perspective of “from tomorrow, this could be my home” will make you evaluate it in a very different way.
2 Tips for Finding the Country That’s Right for You
Write Down Your Priorities
If you haven’t done this yet, take a moment to list out the things that truly matter to you. Let’s say I want to move to Bora Bora: sun, sea, a beautiful island in the middle of the ocean. Amazing, right? But is it realistic considering my priorities? Not really. I don’t want to live too far from my actual and chosen family who are still in Italy. Maybe, for you, being close to loved ones is also a big point to consider. Or perhaps it’s access to good healthcare if you need specific treatments. Then there’s climate, job opportunities, and so on.
Get Clear on What Living Abroad Means to You
take a moment to reflect: what do you really want to achieve by moving abroad? Are you looking for new opportunities? To improve your quality of life? Start understanding what desire (or desires) you’re hoping to fulfill with this decision.
You could always just point at a spot on the map and go, but what are you bringing in your backpack?
Stay tuned for more tips!
